QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Which extension cord should I use for this mower?I purchased a 12/3 for this and although there is power in it my mower doesn't start.

Asked by: Baraka
So it shouldn't matter that the mower is a 2 prong and the extension cord is a 3 prong right. I read that since the 2 prong is not grounded then o would need a 2 prong to 2 prong extension cord or 3 prong to 3 prong, if I am making any sense.

I am an elderly woman with a bad back and don't want a heavy mower. Mower must be electric and really easy to push/use. Nothing complicated.

Asked by: RenaG
Hello, Thank you for your interest. This product weighs 56 lbs (25.4 kg). As each user's capabilities vary it is hard to say whether it would be considered easy to push for everyone. Self-propelled mowers are also a great option as this requires no pushing from the operator, all you have to do is walk behind it and steer. If you wish to discuss mowers with our team, feel free to reach out to us via email at info@greenworkstools.com or by calling our helpline 1-888-909-6757.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Go Getter! I have owned this mower for two years, live in the country, have a one-acre yard, many shade trees, and love to exercise. Through the spring and summer, this trusty "friend" has mowed wet grass, dry grass, tall grass, and seldom even bogged down! Then, come the fall and winter and together, we mulch the leaves and remove the excess debris with ease and efficiency! I am seventy-two years old and in excellent health; largely, thanks to the exercise and good vibes i get from my mowing and keeping a pristine yard (We don"t call it a lawn out here, by the way.) I may write a book entitled "Mow You Way to Better Health: Me and My Greenworks Mower.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked great until it stopped working I purchased this lawnmower over a year ago and I was amazed by the performance. Very lightweight and portable, but as tough as any gas mower that I've used. Overall I was very pleased. Unfortunately, after light use this spring it had stopped working for no apparent reason. The electrical motor just "cut out". After checking basic connections and a visual inspection, I realized that Greenworks offers a seemingly fantastic warranty that I will utilize... herein lies the problem. After numerous email attempts and hours of waiting on hold (while I am at work) I have yet to speak to anyone at Greenworks to help me fix or replace their product. I would really like to continue using their products but this has made me second guess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Mower, Amazing Value I have a quarter acre lot, and my “old” mower was a 40v battery-powered machine from another company. The wheels literally fell off (yes, actually literally) in the first season of use. I was skeptical about buying another electric mower, but was fairly determined to avoid gas. The Greenworks 20” corded kept showing up in researching what to buy. For the price, I had to try it. Right out of the box I was impressed. Solid construction, and obviously quality components (i.e. wheels, tires, height lever, handlebar padding). So far I have mowed the entire yard twice since buying it, and have mulched a ton of old leaves. It’s not fancy, but it’s a workhorse, and I’m so glad I bought it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Mower This mower does the job. It is a quality product. Easy to assemble, easy to use. On the negative side, it is noisier than its predecessor. I find I must use ear protection with this mower. Also, there's quite a bit of debris that blows out the top and corners of the bag where it hooks onto the mower. Finally, where the handle is bolted to the mower, there is only one nut and bolt per side. This allows the handle to slightly move about. The design is meant to keep the handle in place with just one bolt, and it does. But the looseness of the handle connection with the mower detracts from the overall quality of the mower. I would buy this mower again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If it starts tripping the circuit breaker ... I've had this for many years now, probably since they first came out. Only use it about a dozen times per year though. Stored outside. I just had to do the first repair and it seems to be a common one. Symptom is that it starts tripping the circuit breaker when turned on. If this happens, the probable culprit is the bridge rectifier that converts 120V AC to DC that the brushed DC motor uses. A rectifier like this is just 4 diodes. Mine failed. Replacements can be bought for just a few dollars (I got 4 for $6 - keeping spares) on eBay. The one in there is rated at 400V / 25A. I replaced that with 1000V / 50A which works fine, and will hopefully be a little more robust. I've also treated the steel shell around the motor with Rustex (Phosphoric acid rust protection / treatment) to keep it good. Storing in a garage or shed should avoid the need for this. While waiting for the part to arrive, my wife borrowed our neighbor's electric mower to finish our half-cut lawn. She commented that theirs was very heavy and much more difficult for her to use, and that she got a good workout doing it. The lighter greenworks one does the job for us very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower I have had this mower for a year now - it has worked awesome. This is my first electric mower since gas mowers give me headaches. I was concerned about the power, but it is a strong mower. I am not easy on this mower and I run over everything with it (acorns, sticks, rocks, leaves, grass) and it handles it like a champ. I have done nothing to this machine in a year and it still looks almost brand new. I wish I had another one so we can cut the front and back grass at the same time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so sure about this Lawnmower I bought this 20" 12A Greenworks electric Lawnmower in 2014 and used it about 6 (Six) times. Had it well stored away, went to use it for the 7th (Seventh) time and it just died out and wouldn't restart. I thought it was the heavy duty extension cord that I have specially for this use, but it was not, the unit just refuse to start. My unit is in really great condition as you can see in the photo. I am a technician and I think it's the Motor that has failed, I just haven't been able to get the time to remove the motor cover as yet to check. Very disappointed ☹️ with this mower as it used to work great, but I had stopped using it because I had a person coming to do my yard with they equipment and they cost was very reasonable, so I gave my equipment a rest. But due to the Covid 19 situation, I decided to start back doing my own yard. But that can't be anymore ☹️ as my Mower is now DEAD.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought this new last summer, and used it. 5 times. This year, it won't start. I am not electrically savvy and do not think I should have to take this mower apart and fix whatever is wrong with it - because I can't, and I should not have to. I should not have to take it somewhere to get it fixed when I only used it 5 times last summer and it was stored in my dry garage all winter. You should have repair people come to houses to fix it - But again, Why do you make mowers that have to be repaired after a year for no apparent reason? If other owners are having to take this mower apart to fix it, you should be paying Them. I looked and looked for a dependable mower that would not give me hassle and thought this was the one. But I was wrong. And you are wrong to be selling something that has to have things repaired after 5 uses.
