Would like to know the difference between 80V and 40V cordless snow shovels. I have a 80V snow blower, but the battery dies quickly. I also have a 40V max lawn mover. So, debating between getting a 80V vs 40V. Is the shovel good for deep snow? Thanks

Asked by: Dr A
Thank you for your question! The higher the voltage the powerful a unit is. The 80v line is more powerful than our 40v line. However, both are more than suitable for residential use. An electric snow shovels come in a variety of styles and sizes, but they all work on the same basic principle. As you move the electric snow shovel forward, a plastic auger scoops up snow and flings it forward – usually about fifteen or twenty feet forward (this tool is not equipped with a chute). This gets rid of the need to bend over and scoop up snow yourself, let alone throw it. Clearing snow is practically as easy as vacuuming a rug with an electric snow shovel. Both 80v and 40v provide a clearing depth 6 Inches.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Non-functional after a year Made 3-4 tickets to support with no response. Product worked fine last year. Keep the 80V battery indoors at all times yet the battery or the tool is failing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handles deep snow Was skeptical of this little blower. I have a 1,000 square foot deck that is only accessible by 35 steps. I was using a gas powered 2 stage blower (120 lbs) and lugging it up and down the stairs. Being mostly plastic, I wasn’t expecting much, but I was wrong. I took on 3+ feet of Sierra Snow and it held its own. I did a “layer” (12” down from the top) at a time and was shocked at how quickly the deck was cleared. It is heavier than a shovel, not an issue if snow is less than 10-12” as it can just slide of the surface being cleared. Deeper snow requires lifting (essentially same as a big transfer shovel). Tried it on the berm from the plows and it just chopped right through. Defiantly recommend a 2nd battery for large areas. Keep an eye out where it’s blowing, as it reliably throws 20-30 feet with no issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine. I hope it holds up! I've only used this on a fairly light snow so far, but that was why I got it. I have a nice big gas snow blower for the big storms, but I bought this when I need more than a shovel and less than a behemoth. It worked great. It doesn't seem to have problems throwing the snow. It is a little bit heavy, and the moveable handle really wont move up far enough to help much. I'm thinking of getting a trimmer harness or putting a shoulder strap of some kind on it to help out a little bit. The only other thing I worry about is how long the plastic will last. The impeller hit a small piece of the sidewalk and wore down a bit. No big deal. After 1 use, it seems ok. There is a plastic plate/scraper on the bottom that seems built to wear out and be replaced. That isn't an issue, but I don't see the replacement part anywhere (or a replacement impeller). Basically, this is a great little machine for the cost of 4+ snow shovels!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong machine Very powerful. I’ve only gotten to try it out once, on about an inch of slushy snow, but it got right after it. Only wish is that it had side deflectors to keep the snow away from cars parked next to the sidewalk. Guess it takes some technique to aim it better. And be careful when you hit a piece of ice, it will launch it.
