What is the best way to store this snow blower over the summer if I don't have any other Greenworks products in which to use the batteries?

Asked by: Ginn
Hello Ginn, Thank you for your question! I would be happy to offer some recommendations how to care + store Lithium-ion batteries and your snow blower. Lithium-ion batteries have several advantages, they have a higher energy density than most other types of rechargeable batteries. This means that for their size or weight they can store more energy than other rechargeable batteries. Lithium-ion batteries also have a lower self-discharge rate than other types of rechargeable batteries. This means that once they are charged, they will retain their charge for a longer time than other types of rechargeable batteries. For example, NiMH and NiCd batteries can lose anywhere from 1-5% of their charge per day (depending on the storage temperature) even if they are not installed in a device. Lithium-ion batteries will retain most of their charge even after months of storage. The batteries should be stored in a covered, shaded and cool area with temperatures that do not go over 40c (104F) or under 6c (42.8F). The best way to store the battery and charger is simply to store it inside where the temperature is easily controlled. Please remember to store the charger unplugged. We recommend removing it after charging is complete. Overcharging can damage a battery and shorten its life. The recommended ambient temperature range for storing your snow thrower: temperature range 1.4F (-17C) ~ 113F (45C). Hope this information was helpful!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it - way better than gasoline engine! I love this snowblower. Instant start, good power, throws snow easily and cleans the pavement efficiently, with convenient remote chute control, LED headlights... With 2 batteries on board it used less than 25% of the total capacity for my 50 ft driveway and sidewalks for recent 3" snowfalls. Compared to my old 21" gasoline unit it is better in every way - lighter weight, easier to store, no dealing with gasoline, oil, choke setting, pull cord or electric cord startup, smelly exhaust sticking to clothing... With two 60 volt batteries this was still lower cost than a gasoline engine snowblower. I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pro 60V snowblower blew right through 8" of heavy snow I bought the Pro 60V mower, blower and string trimmer this past spring. I love them all, so it only made sense to try the snowblower. After receiving it a couple weeks ago, I've been patiently awaiting some snow. Careful what you wish for. We're in the midst of a 3 day long storm where there's a chance of 20+ inches. I used it last night on about 2" and it was fantastic. I just came in from round 2 and it did a very good job on about 8" of heavy snow. The only problem I had was where I had blown snow on top of the 8". The unit kept shutting down in those areas. Overall, I'm impressed with the snowblowers capabilities. I am glad I purchased it and look forward to many years of gas free snow removal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this snowblower!!! I moved up to the state of Massachusetts last year and after my first New England winter I’ve decided to go all in with a snowblower. It was a tough gamble to go with a battery driven snowblower because all of my neighbors ran gas snowblowers and no one could or would advise me on an electric snowblower. I took the gamble and ordered one, and it was awesome! The first snowfall I used it was a week ago, it was about 8 inches of snow. The Greenworks snowblower worked great, today we had our biggest test, a Nor’easter just hit the New England area, dumping 20 inches of snow. With a 6 hour and a 5 hour battery I snow blowed the entire front yard to include my two car port area. I even had enough juice to snow blow a path for my two dogs to go from the house to the back yard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fairly easy to assemble and quality decent Just got it. It was fairly easy to assemble. There were some minor scuffs and foam on handle dad small tear due to packaging and shipping. The bail lever does not always release when you let go which could be an issue. Put batteries in and started it up. Quality overall seems good. Bought this to replace my Greenworks 20" 12 Amp corded that has served me well. This one is quite a bit larger so is size is an issue for storage I suggest you stick with the 20" smaller 60V version. It says two speed on the description on the website but I see no way to change speeds. It also says throws snow 30' but box says 20'. That's a significant difference. Now just need a good snow to try it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You really should consider this if you are tired of maintenance with gas. Was not really sure about electric snow thrower, here in Michigan we get heavy wet stuff and I must say I was impressed. First time there was about 3-4 inches and unit went through with out a hitch. A few weeks later we got another 4-5 inches of wet snow and still no worries. Driveway is about 100 ft x 15 ft and within 20 minutes it was done on a single charge! Adjustable height and shift direction worked like a dream, so glad I don't have to wrestle with a heavy, gas powered, single stage thrower anymore. Quiet enough not to bother the neighbors and lights work well too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snow Thrower - Reliable and Effective Works great and with plenty of power to easily clear away densely packed wet snow. Saved my back after consecutive snow storms around Philadelphia. Not having to worry about all of the baggage that comes with a gasoline powered motor while getting the same performance is simply awesome. While one of my coworkers had to shovel his snow because his gasoline powered snow blower would not start after being idle for several uncharacteristically snowless seasons around Philadelphia, I simply put my battery in and cleared up any snow that was in my way!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handling CT winter just fine Busy winter (2021) here in Southwest CT and the Greenworks 60v Snow Blower is up to the task. It was easy to put together and easy to use. It’s lightweight so my 10 and 13 sons can use it no problem (and it’s single stage so it’s safe for them). So far I’ve used it in ~8” of snow and it handled it well. I have a sloped driveway about 75 feet long. I was able to do the entire driveway on a single charge (of the two batteries). It would be nice to have self-propelled capability but the unit is lightweight enough to where it doesn’t matter.
