Rated 2 out of 5 by from Replacing line has resulted in broken bump/release I bought this earlier this summer, have only used maybe 10-15 times. The first time I used it the line was out before I even finished my yard and my yard is NOT that large. I replaced the line and moved along thinking it was just a short supply out of the box. I've replaced the line several times since then but I have always had to pull more line out manually....the bump never has worked. Now today I was replacing line again and the plastic piece that holds the line in has broken and now the unit is useless and will need to be replaced/repaired. I love this machine due to the quietness and the light design etc, but for the price I have have paid, now to have a broken unit I am not pleased with it at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs Well, Try this tip for winding string I've owned this tool for about six months and it has worked great. The only problem I had, which I see other people having, is replacing the string. I could not get the string to stay in place, very aggravating. Today I checked the instructions again, and the instructions say to wind it clockwise, with the gear side facing you. However, the spool has arrows on it that say to wind it the other way. After winding the way the spool indicates, opposite what the manual says, it seemed to work ok; I say seemed, because I only had a little ways to go before finishing. I haven't owned it long enough to give it five stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great for a small-medium yard I bought this trimmer from the local Lowes for $199. Took it out of the box, the battery was at about a 50% charge. Charged up the battery and took it for a test trim. My yard has been overrun by crabgrass and this just powers right through it! I have used it to trim the edging as well and it does a great job. The only thing i think could be an issue is that it doesn't feel as balanced as I would prefer, I have moved the black front handle up and down and it doesn't matter, it still feels a bit off to me. I think the optimal handle placement would be where the two pieces of the shaft join, but I can't put the handle there because of the joint.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy to use I bought this less than a month ago. I was excited because I am a new homeowner and can't wait too get this lawn looking good. I used this twice. I started to notice the second time around it was having issues spooling out the line. I took it apart and then pulled the line out and then started it back up again. Still an issue. I bumped it on the curb and, then I see the spring fly out. Other than this, I have been happy with this, the blower and 80v Mower. I have already tried to call, which I have sat on hold for 20 minutes. I have also emailed and still no response.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprising! WE bought the 13 inch version of the 60V trimmer for my wife to use. IT was cheaper and quite frankly i was concerned about the power and figured shorter string would be better. Well i was wrong, the 13 inch version of this has plenty of power. I wished I had bought this 16 now. I put it together in minutes. On first charge it ran an hour on "high" speed. IT has plenty of power for normal use. I ran it through some extra thick stuff and it struggled a little but it still had the string that came with it on it. This is perfect for what we bought it for. I rated the Durability of 3 because we haven't had it long enough to judge it yet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I like it, but the bump feed head design is bad! Bought this about 2 months from Lowes, and the bump feed head has already gone bad. Hard to get parts for it, and harder to get it repaired. Can't find a replacement part. And winding the new string is difficult: poor instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent speed control, even down low Exactly what I was looking for! Quiet, powerful and easily adjustable (speed). Very easy to flip and edge with, what I use it for 50% of the time. The competition does not have this level of speed control, I know, I tried it out. Once you use this for a few minutes you get a great feel for how the trigger works and it is very easy to modulate to get the speed you want. This control is necessary when trimming or edging delicate areas like tress, flowers, shrubs, etc. When you want or need more power, flip the switch to 2 and pull hard on the trigger and you won't be disappointed. Well built, not heavy and very well balanced once the battery is installed. This compliments the new 60V mower very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why the 60 Volt? I am a Greenworks customer who has several of the 80V tools. I signed up for the Greenworks tool review program several months ago, and had just recently received this 60 Volt String Trimmer from them to use and review. What first brought me to be a customer was the 80 Volt Snow Thrower for clearing a 30x80 foot driveway. After being a satisfied customer with that, I added the 80V string trimmer, Leaf blower, and Chainsaw. I am a residential homeowner and all of these get relatively light duty. I bought the chainsaw to clear trees that are down across a trail when I'm out off road riding, on my UTV. The convenience, quality, and performance of all these tools have been excellent. After that brief summary of my history with Greenworks, I'll get to the review of this trimmer. My first thought was, why the 60 Volt? I know Greenworks had the 40 Volt and 80 Volt, and wondered how the 60 Volt could fit into their market between the two. After using the 60 Volt trimmer my questions were answered. It is much lighter, but seems every bit as powerful as my 80 Volt trimmer. And at a cheaper cost. This like all the other Greenworks tools are very east to assemble. Come with great instruction manuals that you can actually hold in your hand. This trimmer was much more comfortable to do the job that was before me, than the 80 Volt is. The light weight, ergonomics of how the motor rests on your forearm make this a very comfortable tool to use for light to medium duty weed clearing. I must say that I would have also preferred the 60V, 16" chainsaw over the 18" that is in the 80 Volt line. Mostly because that's all I really need. I over bought my needs with the other tolls just to get extra batteries for my Snow Thrower. Once again, it's about convenience and compatibility. Conclusion is that this is a great tool. I have found that the 60 Volt line would actually be the best for what I use it for, and the only reason I still would go with the 80 Volt would be for all the tools to be battery compatible with my Snow Thrower. Don't hesitate to buy this or any other Greenworks Battery tools. They have exceeded my expectations in every way. I may eventually actually try one of the Mowers to see if it can convince me to retire my 21" self propelled Honda that I really love.....

Used my weed wacker just a few times and now the head of the trimmer doesn’t spin. I’m very frustrated

Asked by: Lynnskie
Lynnsike, If the trimmer head doesn't turn, the first place to look for problems is around the head itself, remove the battery and check the trimmer head, it may be restricted by weeds or grass wrapped around the head and motor housing. If there is no obstruction you will need to discuss this issue in more detail with our product support team. Please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 or by email to info@greenworkstools.com. *Please be advised due to the current pandemic COVID-19 we are experiencing delays. The bump feature is not working on my brand new ST60L02.  I cannot get the string to advance.  We have removed the spool a couple of times now.  There is enough string.  The spring is very tight.  definitely hard to rotate when re-stringing the spool.

Asked by: Madeleine
Hello Madeleine, We're sorry for your trouble. Please note the string will only advance while you're unit is on and bumped. If you release the trigger to bump the unit line will not extend out. If you continue to have issues, please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 or by email to info@greenworkstools.com for further assistance. Please note we are currently experiencing delays due to the current pandemic COVID-19. We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience while attempting to reach us.
