Leaf Blower FAQS

Do you make Gas Blowers?

No. All Greenworks leaf blowers are cordless battery-powered blowers or corded electric blowers.

Is a battery powered leaf blower quieter than gas?

Yes! Electric and battery-powered leaf blowers are generally quieter than gas models.

What is more important MPH or CFM?

Both CFM and MPH have their benefits—it depends on which type of blower you’re looking for. MPH is an abbreviation of miles per hour. This denotes the speed at which the air exits the blower. Higher MPH figures produce large pressure changes at the blower inlet. Therefore, a higher MPH is beneficial when looking at blower/vac units as higher airspeed helps move heavier debris. CFM is an abbreviation of cubic feet per minute. This denotes the volume of air displaced by the blower. High CFM units tend to move large air volumes at relatively low speeds, allowing large areas to be swept and cleared in a shorter amount of time. Axial blowers/dedicated blowers benefit more from a higher CFM and is more desirable for these units.

What is the most appropriate blower for my property?

Generally, electric leaf blowers have a CFM falling somewhere from just under 200 to 400. If your property is one acre or more, you'll probably want a leaf blower with a CFM between 400 to 700.

Can I dry my car or blow snow off my driveway?

We do not recommend using this blower for any task other than leaf blowing.

What is the difference between a hand blower and backpack blower?

Hand-held blowers are held in your hands, backpack blowers are carried on your back. Hand-held blowers are often the less expensive than backpack blowers and have smaller motors to ensure they're not too heavy to carry. But, because the motor is smaller, they have less power. These blowers are great if you have a small yard, but they can be taxing if you’re spending 30-40 minutes on the job. Backpack blowers provide more power than handheld tools. They have the added benefit of being more ergonomic because you're aided by your trunk in maneuvering the blower, so you’re not relying solely on arm strength. Backpack blowers are better for tackling large jobs, but they’re also more expensive than hand-held blowers.

How do I use the mulch function with my blower/vacuum?

When mulching leaves, the Blower/Vac must be in TURBO-MULCH mode. Items such as small leaves and twigs will be mulched as they pass through the fan housing. We recommend emptying the bag after each use to avoid deterioration and the obstruction of air flow which will reduce the performance of the mulcher.

Why is dust coming out of my collection bag while using my Blower?

This is normal. There are tiny holes in the collection bag that are necessary for its operation. They allow very small particles of dust to pass through.

What debris will the Blower/Vacuum collect?

The Blower/Vacuum is designed to collect lightweight, low density leaves. Other forms of garden debris can be collected but solid objects such as toys, twigs, stones, pinecones, etc. should be avoided.

Why is my vacuum not collecting garden debris?

If your blower is not easily picking up leaves, ensure that the nozzle is close enough to the leaves/debris. Also, make sure that the mode indicator is on the correct setting. Press the low/high switch to increase the speed options. The unique design of the blower-vac means that only lightweight, low density objects such as leaves and garden debris will be collected. It’s worth noting, higher density objects such as stones and sticks will not be collected. If you're finding that the unit is still not picking up garden debris, it may be necessary to remove the blower tube or mulcher tubes to clear a blocked tube or impeller. Please be sure to remove the battery or unplug the unit before checking the tube or impeller.

What blower can I use for hard surfaces?

The best blow power for removing heavy or wet organic materials from soft surfaces like grass, dirt, or sand will come from a corded electric blower or from our 80V PRO blowers. The 80V 580 CFM Brushless Backpack Blower offers 580 CFM, while the 80V 500 CFM Cordless Brushless Axial Blower offers up to 500 CFM—both pack plenty of power for hard surfaces.

What is the battery life and how do I maximize it?

To get the most life out of your battery, you should remove it from the charger once it has finished charging. The problem with overcharging is the potential damage it can cause to the battery that can shorten its lifespan. Of course, be sure to read your tool’s instructions as it may indicate that storing your battery on the charger is fine.

Power Tools FAQS

Is Greenworks a good brand for power tools?

The Greenworks 24V combo kit is the perfect solution for homeowners looking to make the switch to battery power. It includes a 1/2 in. brushless drill/driver and a 1/4 in. brushless impact driver, both of which are equipped with an LED light that allows for work at night and in dark spaces. Both tools run on 24-volt lithium batteries with a 3-hour charger included, providing maximum runtime for the sawing, drilling, and hammering you do around your home.

Are 24-Volt batteries heavy?

24V batteries are evenly balanced for optimal weight distribution and have a slightly longer lifespan than NiCad batteries.

Should I remove the battery from the tool when I’m not using it?

Unless the trigger is activated on the tool, the battery should have no effect. It is good practice to keep the trigger in a locked position when not in use, especially if it is being stored in your work truck/bag and gets bounced around when in transit from site to site.

Is the charger 210-220V?

No, the charger is 120V and is designed for North American outlets (units sold in North America only).

Can I use a 40V, 60V or 80V battery instead of a 24V battery? I would like to avoid purchasing a 24V battery.

No, this drill is only compatible with G24V and 24V Powerall battery models.

[24V Brushless Jig Saw] Can generic blade replacements from the hardware store be used in this tool?

Yes! Our jig saw needs T-shank blades that can be found at your local hardware store. We suggest the following brands: Bosch, Old Milwaukee and Hitachi. DeWalt is also compatible. We currently manufacture our own replacement blades as well, but this could change in the future.

Can drill bits be purchased locally or do they have to be Greenworks?

Yes, they can be purchased locally! Since bits are universal, any drill bits specifically designed for use with a 1/4" hex drive will work.

What blades does the reciprocating saw include?

This kit includes 1 (x) wood blade and 1 (x) Bi-metal blade.

How long will a 24V ~ 2Ah and 4Ah battery last with the Greenworks LED Work Light? Is there a high/low brightness?

If using a 4.0Ah battery, this light will operate for approximately 20hrs at 2000 lumens/high or 40hrs at 1000 lumens/low. If using a 2.0Ah battery, this light will operate for approximately 10hrs at 2000 lumens/high or 20hrs at 1000 lumens/low. It’s worth noting, the run time will increase with a higher ampere-hour (Ah) battery model.

What size chuck?

This cordless drill has a 1/2-inch chuck and a ratcheting chuck.

What is the battery charging time for G24 batteries?

A 2.0Ah battery will be fully charged in 90 minutes and 80% charged in only 50 minutes. These high-performing batteries are fast charging and boast reliable charging without loss of memory or power. The Greenworks 24V lithium-Ion battery also includes an LED indicator which displays the remaining power.

What are the garden shear blades made of and does it include a battery? Is the battery for the Garden Shear replaceable? What is the cutting capacity?

The blade is made of steel while the handles are made of a durable and long-lasting hard plastic. It includes a 7.2V lithium-ion battery and charger. The battery is not replaceable as it is built into the tool. The cutting capacity for the Grass Shear Blade is 1” and the cutting capacity of the Shrub Shear Blade is .3".

Will the batteries from the drill and impact combo work with this circular saw and the jig saw?

Yes! The batteries from the Greenworks drill and impact combo will work with this unit.

Is Greenworks warranty transferable?

No, Greenworks warranties are not transferable and are only available to the original purchaser with the original purchase receipt or proof of purchase. Warranties are only valid for units which have been maintained in accordance with the instructions in the owner's manual supplied with the product from new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful! Requires two batteries. This vacuum works great! Very powerful suction. I use it to empty and clean out my bird bath fountain basin. I only wish it had a larger reservoir/bucket and variable speeds. Also, don't forget, it requires two batteries (not included). Fortunately, I ordered a spare battery for my leaf blower, anyways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who would have thought a battery Shop Vac could be this good ! Success once again ! I am a big fan of my green works 60v tools, Did I mention that this is number 10 ! and while I was hesitant that a battery powered shop vac would not have the power. I was pleasantly surprised with the performance level of the two-battery design. It is super convenient to be able to take the shop vac out to the cars and not have to drag around an AC cord. Two thumbs way up !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I was looking for I've had the the 60v wet-dry for about a month now. I've washed cars, cleaned driveway and rinsed cleaning product off bricks. It's done everything I asked of it with no complaints. Really enjoy not having an attached cord or a hose! Product improvement ideas: 1) Make the sprayer hose where it attaches to the base free to rotate. This would prevent it twisting up on itself 2) Make the machine beep or something just before the battery dies. It's a little weird when it just quits working cause battery is out of juice. An audible indication would be nice. 3) A lid for the top of the water bucket so it can't slosh out so much when transporting would be nice add.

Do you sell any accessory attachments? A brush tip would be handy for cleaning seats and more delicate things.

Asked by: Rwm11
Hello Rwm11, At this time, we do not sell attachments. This product has a 1-7/8" hose, crevice tool, floor nozzle, and a washable, cartridge-style filter. You could use universal attachments made for this size of hose as well!

What is the lowest air speed?  I see the maximum.   Thinking about adapting it to vacuum Honey Bees in bee removal situations.  I need a low speed so as to not harm them.  There are systems out there, this would just be cheaper if it could be used.

Asked by: Never a Dull Mokent
Just a thought - you could probably put a pressure regulating valve on the threaded drain port of any shop vac to control the pressure. Opening it all the way would take the pressure to close to zero, but adding a regulated valve could control that suction...

does it charge batteries when batteries are in vacuum but plugged in, and on corded mode? if not, i feel like thatd be a great idea!

Asked by: billybobbilly
Soon as I saw it had two batteries I thought the exact same thing! Add a third slot on the selector for charging mode. Probably small changes to the inverter/electronics required… not sure.
