Rated 5 out of 5 by AKMike from Exceptional run time I have had this chain saw for about 3 years with most of my use of it in the Spring, Summer and Fall. I am always amazed at the long run time I get from the saw. I am often able to buck much more of a tree than I predict. I find it easy to sharpen the chain and find any needed replacement parts online. It is comparable in weight to my old gas powered saw. The self oilier for the chain is great, but do take the time to clean out the housing over the chain from time to time to remove oil caked saw dust. If possible, used up all of the oil in the self oilier before storing it to prevent oil from leaking out when not in use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by I Ben Crupper from Cordless Chainsaw We have bought two....We have used the one for several years without a minutes complaint. The battery life is longer than mine some times... An easy to use tool for some many trimming, cutting....anything. It is a very safe saw with very little chance of kickback.. Keep the chain sharp and it will perform so excellent. I recommended a GreenWorks saw and my 81 year old sister has one that she can "hardly" live without. I have two gas saws one Husky 2100 xp and a Husky Rancher..and have cut thousands of cords of wood... But for ease and handiness this is the best. We have been sextons at a 15 acre cemetery for 30 years and this Greenworks tool is always nearby.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AmyD from Works amazingly well! I have used my chainsaw on many different occasions, owning it for about a year now. It has never failed to impress me. The battery life is so much longer than you would expect. Only once or twice have I managed to outlast the charge. :) I've cut up downed trees following a tornador and done general limb/branch cleanup around my property. It exceeds my expectations every time I use it. It is easy to use and any needed maintenance is simple. I love that I can share the batteries among the Greenworks pole saw, trimmer and hedge clipper that I also purchased. What a great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by tdcmachine from Excellent saw I purchased three of these G-Max 40V saws several years ago to thin and prune juniper and pine on grazing land. Was not sure if the battery saws would hold up to the demands of ranch work, but hold up they did and without even one major problem with any of the saws over hundreds of hours of use. When I first got these saws one old boy I had working for me scoffed at it, but now these are the go to saw for any job within it's capacity. All but the large gas saws are collecting a lot of dust these days. Because of their light weight and ease of use, these saws became invaluable in steep canyons and rocky terrain. Three batteries per saw, a jug of oil and a file would keep my crew of three workers going all day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by pgc1123 from My second Greenworks saw I bought this saw to have a lighter saw for use at home. I have a Greenworks 80V saw for farm use some distance away. Both saws are well worth the money. I don't use chainsaws enough to be comfortable with them. An electric saw is simpler to operate and seems to me to be safer--less noise, no smoke, and you don't start the saw until you have it in position to make the cut. The batteries have all the capacity that I need and more. If you plan on doing extended saw work you may want a second battery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Too Hot from Only in cold climates I've had this for about ten months and was impressed with it in the winter weather, but once temperatures got above 70 it is too prone to overheating. Past 85 and I'd consider the saw near useless as you can only make a couple cuts a day before overheating. Perhaps this is because I'm cutting larger logs than most, some 14", but it's a 16" bar and overheating after four cuts, and not cooling down enough to use again until the next day is just unacceptable in my book. That's with multiple batteries and letting it rest in the shade for two hours, it can't run more than a few seconds before overheating again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nuke1 from It has passed the test of time I purchased this chainsaw several years ago ( when it was first available ). I use it all around our 35 acre property for trimming, pruning, removal of dead falls and even some firewood cutting. I was skeptical at first of a cordless saw but have become a true believer. It is lightweight, has excellent power and the battery is more than adequate for my needs. All in all the saw has surpassed my expectations and over the past several years has held up well, is durable and has passed the test of time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kilt from My first chain saw Received this saw as an early gift after wanting one for years. It was very easy to learn on. If you're like me and this is your first saw purchase, read the manual, wear safety gear, and it'll be good to you. I seem to wear out before the batteries do, so far. If you've read other reviews, you'll recall that the bar and chain oil does leak a little, so keep it stored appropriately to avoid staining your floor. (Only complaint is that I thought it was to include a carrying case. Mine did not, so I've been using a garbage bag instead.)

We would advise against using WD-40 with our chainsaw products and would recommend that only bar and chain oil be used. We have now stock of this Premium Bar & Chain Oil available online. https://www.greenworkstools.com/bar-and-chain-lubricant

bought the saw with 40/4.0ah last fall use twice a month for small .check charge ,went to use it today ran great for about half an hour then stopped ,the battery charge check light wouldn't light up and then it ran again for a minute what happened ?
Hello randyh, Low voltage charging: If the battery has been stored with little to no charge for a long period of time, the charger will go into recovery mode, which will take approximately 20 hrs. to fully charge the battery. This will enhance the life of the battery. Once it is fully charged, the next charge will return to standard charging. If you are still experiencing an issue please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or by email on email@example.com.

I am interested in the 40V 16" Chainsaw, 4Ah USB Battery&Charger. It will be stored with my emergency supplies. When it comes to recharging the battery, I have a solar generator that puts out 500W/120V, but I don't see any spec's on the charger.
Hello Richard S, It has an input voltage of 100-120V @ 1.5A (total input wattage 150W) It has an output voltage of 40V @ 2A (Total output wattage 80W) 500W will be fine however it will need to be pure sine wave. Hope this information helpful.
