QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

2 weeks ago, my 60V Model CAC801 charger completely stopped functioning; i.e., no lights/fan when the battery is installed. Able to charge battery with different CAC801. Appears that the 15A/250VAC fuse F1 is blown. Can you provide replacement?

I purchased the greenworks weed eater with a Battery Charger CAC801 last summer and now the charger will not light up, will not charge. Help!

Asked by: Ethel G
There are a few causes that create this problem. 1) Ensure that the battery has been fully inserted into the charger. Sometimes this requires a firm push into place to make sure that it has been properly seated. 2) Try resetting the charger. To do this, simply unplug it for approximately 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try reinserting the battery. If the charger has been plugged in for extended periods of time, this can sometimes cause the charger to malfunction. For a battery to run at optimal performance, the battery should not be left or stored on the charger, unless the charger is unplugged. They should also be stored in a cool, dry, place. Please consider contacting us to see how we can help with this issue. Kindly visit our website and send us an email using the customer contact page for further help.

I'm plugging my battery (60V 5.0 HC) into the charger. No fan, no lights. I tried to buy another charger but your website here says it is out of stock. Anything else I can try to get this to work for now or do I just need to wait for a new charger?

When I put the battery in to charge. The fan in the charger doesn't start up. The green light blinks for a couple of seconds then blinks red. Is there a reason why the fan in charger isnt clicking on?

Asked by: Andy Garcia
Hello Andy Garcia, If the battery has been recently used and you put it on the charger to charge it may need to be cooled for a few minutes before you can charge it. Allow it to rest at room temperature and try again. If you have left the charger plugged in this whole time you may need to reset the charger. Simply disconnect, leave for 1 minute and plug it in again, this step may need to be done 1-2 times before reset occurs. If issues persist, please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 or by email to info@greenworkstools.com.

Is it ok to leave the charger plugged into the wall when not charging a battery? The outlet I use is hard to reach so leaving it plugged in would be ideal.

Asked by: Matt O
Hello Matt, The battery chargers do have auto cut offs to prevent it from over charging. However, we do advise customers to remove the battery from the charger after it has been fully charged and to also unplug the charger from the outlet, as this is good electrical safety practice to do so. This will also help to prevent false defects reading and allows the charger to reset itself each time it’s used to charge a battery.

What's the difference between this model and the black charger Model CH60A00? I have both. This one is much louder than CH60A00.

Asked by: SamT
Hello SamT - Thank you for your question. This is our updated 60V charger model. Due to the design of this charger, it was necessary to implement a fan to keep the battery cool during charging. The previous model did not require this feature.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compelled... I was compelled to buy the charger by my wife. After charging the batteries for our new mower, she went to get the one for our older weed-eater. The older charger was so difficult compared to the new one we received with the new mower she said she had to have “a charger for our weed-eater! Confused I asked why. She informed me how much easier she could get the battery into and out of the new type charger; after I tried it, I was Sold!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not charge my battery I bought the blower/trimmer combo this weekend at Lowe’s and as son as I plugged in the charger and placed the battery on it, the charger just flashes red. It might be a faulty battery or a faulty charger not sure. I’ll be calling support in the morning to get a replacement charger/battery. I am not very impressed since this has presented issues literally right out of the box. We will see if support steps up and stands by their product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition for your secondary battery! Great purchase if your tool came with two batteries and only one charger. 2.0 A charge in 60 min and 4.0 A charge in 120 min. Has indication of status and fan to cool battery while charging to prevent overheating. Will charge any of the 60v batteries available.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the smartest charger The charger does what it's supposed to do, charge batteries. However, it has a couple of drawbacks compared with chargers for other battery systems I've used: First, if the battery is too hot, the charger won't charge it. That makes sense at first, but if you put a hot battery on the charger, the light turns red and it will never start charging even after the battery cools down. You have to physically remove the battery and reinstall it to reset it so it will start charging. That's annoying when you want to just leave it on the charger and go do something else instead of checking every ten minutes to see if it's cool enough to charge yet. Second, the fan in the charger is surprisingly loud, about on par with a window unit A/C. Both of mine blow loud, so it appears to be designed that way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big upgrade. Massive upgrade to the old black chargers. These are easier to get the battery in and out and also charging a warm battery is mostly gone.
